‘Married At First Sight is SCRIPTED’ says Josh Pihlak’s mother – who blasts producers for her villain portrayal during her fight with Cathy Evans
Married At First Sight’s Cathy Evans went head-to-head with her ‘husband’ Josh Pihlak’s mother Mandy Manning during Monday’s homestay episode.
But according to Mandy, things went down very differently to what viewers saw on screens.
Moments after her appearance on Monday night’s episode, Mandy shared a post on Facebook that read: ‘Ok here goes round 3 of the mother in-law from hell.’

Blasting the show’s producers, the blonde added: ‘Edit edit, read script, edit edit.’
Like his mother, Josh, 28, also took aim at his on-screen portrayal in a series of brutal Facebook posts on Monday night.
Josh vented on Facebook after viewers watched him side with his mother as she argued with Cathy, 26, during homestays.

She’s not holding back! Mandy then commented that Cathy was the ‘actress from hell’
‘What a terrible edit, f**k it I’m calling [my] mum,’ Josh began.
‘F**k me dead on a Devon sandwich. [Producers] left out the [entire] lunch and I had the old hugs and kisses back [from Cathy afterwards]. MAFS [has] f**ked me in the backside. Should’ve went on Survivor. I’ll never do a TV show again.’
Mandy then commented below his post to accuse Cathy of being an actress.

When a MAFS fan commented that ‘we now know they break up for good’, she replied: ‘She was a paid actress hunny, employed by producers.’
Mandy then commented that Cathy was the ‘actress from hell’.

Cathy’s acting past revealed
In 2014, Cathy graduated from Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland with a degree in performing arts.
She then moved to Sydney to launch a showbusiness career and had professional headshots taken.
The 26-year-old started her own YouTube channel in March 2016, but it’s unclear what acting roles, if any, she landed before appearing on MAFS.
Last week, Cathy denied she was acting on MAFS, telling the NZ Herald: ‘I can confirm I’m not an actor. I’ve changed careers many times [since university].’

On Monday’s episode of Married At First Sight, Cathy faced off with Josh’s mother during an awkward hometown date in Newcastle.
Cathy accused her ‘husband’ of throwing her under the bus the moment they sat down for lunch, despite him reassuring her beforehand that he would support her.
She became upset after Mandy brought up previous issues the couple had faced in the experiment and Josh failed to defend her.
‘I get it, that’s your son. My valid reasoning is not enough for her because her son takes first priority,’ Cathy said afterwards.
‘And she was bringing up things that are just going to reignite feelings of anger and resentment for Josh.’
