Married At First Sight: Luke Eglin fling with Instagram follower after Poppy Jennings split

Married At First Sight’s Luke Eglin put his controversial split from ex-‘wife’ Poppy Jennings behind him last month and moved on with a stunning blonde. 

The FIFO worker, 39, enjoyed a two week fling with fan Fiona Claassen in February, after she reached out to him over Instagram while watching the show at home. 

During their short-lived romance, Luke introduced Fiona to his family and then went on a romantic trip to Queensland together, before mutually ending things. 

Fiona told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday: ‘We chatted over Instagram, then exchanged numbers and went on a few dates and a trip together. 

‘Everything was great, but it all moved too quickly and we realised it wasn’t going to work. The pressure of the show [and media interest] was distracting too. 

‘Luke is a very bubbly and talkative person, and is great with his family.’ 

Their quick romance occurred during the fall out from Luke’s split from Poppy.

After viewers watched Poppy dump Luke and quit the show last month, she then claimed she was gagged from saying what really happened in a Facebook post.

‘I couldn’t say what was happening behind the scenes, as it was too controversial,’ wrote Poppy on February 18, creating a media storm full of speculation.

Fiona went on to admit that the aftermath of Poppy’s post has taken its toll on Luke. 

‘He’s been concerned and is a proud man,’ admitted Fiona. 

‘His number one worry was about his family and keeping them out of the spotlight.’

Earlier this week, Poppy revealed to her Instagram followers that she is in contact with lawyers to work out what she can publicly say about her exit from MAFS. 

Luke and Poppy filmed their wedding last September, and split two weeks later. 

Luke declined to comment when approached by Daily Mail Australia.
