Gerard Butler has an active day full of running, walking and biking while out and about in NYC

Gerard Butler has an active day running, walking and biking around NYC… as the 300 star is set to return to Sparta for the Olympic torch relay

He’s set to run the Olympic torch from the Byzantine town of Mystras to Sparta in the lead up to this year’s Olympic games.

Gerard Butler got ready for the important run while taking care of errands in New York City on Monday.

The 50-year-old Olympus Has Fallen star was seen throughout the day running, walking and biking to his various appointments.

On the move: Gerard Butler, 50, wore a plain white shirt and jeans while running, walking and biking through NYC to run errands on Monday

Gerard stuck with a casual outfit for his outing with a plain white long sleeve shirt, light blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

He sported a wild hairdo and a salt and pepper beard, and he blocked out the sun with aviator sunglasses.

The How To Train Your Dragon voice actor showed off his fitness as he made his way through the city on a bike or by foot.

Gerard is best known for his star-making turn in the action film 300, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley.

He led the violent period film as King Leonidas, the warrior king of the Greek city–state Sparta, who died leading 300 warriors against the Persian emperor Xerxes I during the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE.

Because of the now-iconic role, it was announced that the actor would return to Sparta to carry the Olympic torch in the lead-up to the 2020 games in Tokyo.

His route will take him from the town of Mystras to Sparta, approximately a 5km run.

He won’t be the only person running the relay though, even if he’s the only one to play an ancient King of Sparta.

He’ll also be joined by his former collaborator, 300 and Shutter Island producer Gianni Nunnari, as well as his Olympus Has Fallen producer Alan Siegel and Titanic actor Billy Zane, who is of Spartan descent.

Absent from Gerard’s outing on Monday was his girlfriend Morgan Brown, 48.

The couple had been in a tumultuous on-and-off relationship for the past five years, though they seem to have reunited in recent months.

They had previously separated in 2017, following a lengthy beach vacation over the summer.

All of that seems to have been forgotten, and the two looked as loved-up as ever last month when they attended the Academy Awards together, where Gerard was representing his animated film How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Most recently, they were inseparable at an after-party for the art world heist thriller The Burnt Orange Heresy in New York on Friday.
