Eamonn Holmes has discussed how his wife, Ruth Langsford, has faced a very difficult year in the wake of her sister’s suicide.
The presenter, 60, attended the TRIC Awards on Tuesday and picked up the TV Personality Award on behalf of Ant and Dec.
Whilst there he spoke to MailOnline about his wife-of-ten-years and praised their ‘very real relationship.’

The much loved couple are famed for presenting on This Morning and Ruth’s appearances on Loose Women.
The Irish presenter said he hopes to see more of his wife on the all female chat show panel as you ‘get to show your cheeky side.’
He noted that things are ‘going well’ for the star after an incredibly difficult time in her life.

Eamonn shared: ‘It’s been a very busy year for her and a very difficult year for her. So our concern is just to nurse her through the year and make sure she’s OK.’
Ruth, 59, announced the heartbreaking news on Twitter at the time.

She wrote: ‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.
‘She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.
‘As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.’
Devastated, Ruth was unable to go to work that week and two months later she left the This Morning studio in tears unable to continue with a phone-in on anxiety and depression.

Speaking to psychologist Emma Kenny on a recent episode of This Morning, Ruth spoke in public about her sister’s suicide for the first time, explaining: ‘This happened in my family. I remember my shock at that. It’s the questions it leaves the families’.
She continued with a list of a list of questions family members may have: ‘I should have gone round. I should have phoned. I was going to go round. I was going to phone. Maybe I should have stayed longer,’ she said.
She added: ‘You are left with the ‘what ifs’. It’s her family now that I think will need so much help.’
