Why the Married At First Sight grooms were underwhelmed by their brides – as it’s revealed they ‘didn’t get what they ordered’

They signed up for Married At First Sight to find lasting love.

But it turns out this year’s grooms were so underwhelmed by their brides that they blasted the producers for doing a ‘rubbish’ job of matchmaking.

Josh Pihlak reportedly told his castmates that Cathy Evans was the opposite of what he’d hoped to find, according to New Idea.

‘He said he likes natural country girls, not city girls with a full face of makeup,’ a source said. ‘Josh doesn’t go for wannabe Kardashains!’ 

The insider added that Steve Burley, 51, had pictured the type of woman he was going to be partnered with and ‘wasn’t expecting a 48-year-old mother-of-two’ like Mishel Karen.

Meanwhile, Jonethen Musulin allegedly told his co-stars that Connie Crayden wasn’t the sort of woman he would usually date.

But they weren’t the only whingeing grooms, as David Cannon reportedly caused huge headaches for producers by ‘complaining and arguing about everything’. 

‘It was a constant battle,’ the source claimed.

Married At First Sight prides itself on its scientific matchmaking process, which is spearheaded by a trio of experts: John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Dr. Trisha Stratford.

But despite the months of personality tests and pheromone experiments, there have been very few successful couples from the franchise.

Last year produced two lasting couples: Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant, and Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli.

Erin Bateman and Bryce Mohr are also still together from the 2016 season.
