Black Widow final trailer: Scarlett Johansson vows to end Taskmaster’s villainous plot in action-packed blockbuster

  • The film will hit theatres in the UK and US on May 1, 2020

Scarlett Johansson takes no prisoners in the final trailer for Marvel’s Black Widow as her character prepares to end the Taskmaster, the masked villian who has taken over the Red Room, once and for all.

The latest trailer for the blockbuster serves as the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four and the first film centered around skilled assassin Natasha Romanoff, who has appeared in several previous films in the franchise.

The trailer opens with Florence Pugh’s character Yelena Belova sharing the cover story she has told friends and family about her sister Natasha’s whereabouts: ‘I tell people my sister moved out West.

‘You’re a science teacher. Your husband renovates houses. You’re thinking about moving but you’re waiting until interest rates go down.’

To which Scarlett’s character insists: ‘That’s not my story’ as the action of the upcoming flick goes into overdrive with high-octane fight scenes and explosions.

Explaining how life has changed for Natasha, she explains: ‘Before I was an Avenger, I made mistakes and a lot of enemies’ as a flash of the villainous Taskmaster’s attempts to kill the assassin come up on screen.

Fellow skilled assassin Yelena shares the information she has on the evil antagonist, who has brainwashed a whole host of new recruits.

Filled with revenge to correct her wrongs, Natasha vows, ‘we have to go back to where it all started so they  never do that to anyone again’ as the duo are joined by Alexei Shostakov (David Harbour) and Melina (Rachel Weisz).

Alexei Shostakov, also known as the Red Guardian, a Russian super-soldier who has a history with Natasha, insists: ‘We’re family, we fight with you’.

Rachel portrays Melina, a veteran spy who has been trained in the Red Room and is involved in a scientific experiment.

Speaking about the upcoming blockbuster, Scarlett told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Where we find Natasha in her life at this point is very specific.

‘She really is in a dark place where she’s got no one to call and nowhere to go. She’s really grappling with her own self.

‘When something huge explodes and all the pieces are landing, you have that moment of stillness where you don’t know what to do next — that’s the moment that she’s in. In that moment, you actually have to face yourself.’

Black Widow will be released in theatres in the UK and US on May 1, 2020.
