Dancing On Ice’s Torvill and Dean insist the skating show is NOT ‘cursed’

Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have dismissed the idea that the show is ‘cursed’ amid the numerous romances and break-ups sparked between the skaters.

The Olympians played down the idea that the ITV show is responsible for the breakdown of several relationships, similar to the ‘Strictly curse’, and instead suggested that the ice rink is the ideal place to find love.

Jayne, 62, and 61-year-old Christopher told how the romances formed is a ‘good thing’ and that it’s inevitable that celebs and their partners grow close due to how closely they work together for months on end.

Speaking out: Dancing On Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have dismissed the idea that the show is ‘cursed’ amid the numerous romances and break-ups sparked between the skaters

Discussing the on ice passion, Christopher explained to The Sun: ‘Romance on ice happens because you get into this bubble and it’s very close, tactile and, more than anything, there is trust that has to go into the celebrity-pro partnerships.’

He continued: ‘On Dancing On Ice we’ve had a lot of partnerships that have come together and people that have stayed together — and a lot of babies — on both the production and cast side.’

Meanwhile, Jayne further shut down the curse association as she added: ‘It’s a good thing so it’s not a curse on the Dancing On Ice side.’

The couple revealed their happy news last month following a whirlwind two-month romance, with Kevin reportedly popping the question with a £50,000 ring.

This was Brianne’s fourth attempt at a Dancing On Ice happy ending, after embarking on romances with former partners Danny Young, Sam Attwater and Matt Lapinskas.

Romance blossomed on the live tour, with the pair later marrying in 2015 in front of several DOI cast.

Elsewhere, on the other end of the scale, Love Island’s Maura Higgins is the latest celebrity to see their romance fall apart while starring on the show, following her split from Curtis Pritchard last week.
