Boris Johnson and fiancee Carrie Symonds are spotted watching England play rugby against Wales

Boris Johnson and his fiancée Carrie Symonds have been spotted in public for the first time since announcing they are expecting a baby together.

The couple were seen in the stands at the Guinness Six Nations match between England and Wales at Twickenham Stadium this afternoon.

Both appeared in good spirits as they laughed together after news that they are expecting a child was revealed by Ms Symonds on Instagram last week.

Mr Johnson’s fiancée again showed off her ‘Princess Diana-style’ engagement ring estimated to have cost between £25,000 and £30,000 after debuting her blossoming baby bump in photographs release by Downing Street earlier today.

The Prime Minister, 55, has at least five children, although he has never confirmed the exact number after imposing a blanket ban on talking about his family. This will be the first child born to his 31-year-old partner.

Downing Street earlier today shared photographs of Ms Symonds alongside the Prime Minister at a reception held in Number 10 on Thursday to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Ms Symonds’ growing baby bump – and a large engagement ring – were visible in the pictures released this morning.

She said she and Mr Johnson, 55, got engaged at the end of last year ‘and we’ve got a baby hatching early summer’.

The announcement came after months of speculation as Ms Symonds had not been seen in public since the general election in December.

In a separate interview, though, he appeared flustered when asked if he will be changing nappies.

Tony Blair’s wife Cherie gave birth to son Leo in May 2000, three years after her husband’s first election victory.

David Cameron and his wife Samantha welcomed daughter Florence in 2010, three months after the then-PM had formed a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats after that year’s general election produced a hung parliament.
