Elle, whose elder sister is her fellow movie star Dakota Fanning, threw on a purple cardigan with a cherry print so she could ward off the wintertime chill.
The Maleficent star pulled on a pair of high-waisted baggy jeans that were fashionably torn and faded.
Letting her luxurious blonde hair down, she accessorized with tortoiseshell aviators and a moss green leather purse for her day out.
This week she went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and pulled back the curtain on her rollicking 21st birthday celebration.

Elle reached legal drinking age last April and took full advantage of her new rights to the point she ‘threw up a lot in the Uber’ during the festivities.
‘My friends and my sister threw me this karaoke birthday, like in Koreatown, super fun,’ she said, as ‘I always wanted to karaoke for my 21st.’
Her song was the Grease hit Summer Lovin’ – but when Jimmy asked whom she sang with she laughed bashfully: ‘Oh, you know, friends and whoever.’
Elle and Dakota also did a duet of the Carrie Underwood single Before He Cheats, which apparently is the older sister’s karaoke go-to.

Her memory of the end of the evening ‘is a bit hazy, for sure, but I’ve been told the Uber driver was really nice.’
She added: ‘And he had like a stash of like throw-up baggies in his car, so he obviously gets this a lot?’

Afterwards, figuring out her regular cocktail ‘took me some time,’ but she revealed that she finally landed on ‘a vodka martini, extra dirty.’
