Cassandra Thorburn insists she ‘NOT a bitter ex-wife’ amid divorce podcast

Cassandra Thorburn has sensationally blasted coverage of her new podcast about divorce, accusing New Idea of portraying her as ‘the bitter ex-wife’.

While she often criticises the media, her decision to target New Idea specifically is surprising given that the tabloid magazine produces her podcast.

She lashed out on Instagram on Thursday night, sharing a screenshot of the article  that featured the clickbait headline ‘Cass Thorburn: “What I wish I knew then!”‘

The story itself was a rather bland interview with Cassandra, but the headline teased the possibility of a bombshell revelation about her ex-husband, Karl Stefanovic.

Cassandra captioned her post: ‘My answer to that headline question was, “I’d have taught my ex-husband how to get grass stains out of cricket whites.”

‘My answer wasn’t included here because society has a label for women, “the bitter ex-wife”, and as unacceptable as that is, what is the male equivalent term?

‘Apparently my sense of humour also doesn’t fit the narrative. Thank you to everyone who listened to the podcast and know it isn’t my story. I can’t change the media but I can continue being me.’

She has since deleted the post – and while it’s possible she was told to do so by executives at New Idea, Cassandra has denied this.

She told Daily Mail Australia on Friday: ‘I didn’t lash out. I was making a joke about the “if I knew then what I know know” question. I deleted it because I felt like it. Nobody told me to do anything.’

It was confirmed on Monday that Cassandra had signed a deal with Seven West Media to host a podcast series about divorce and separation.

While the podcast is not about her split with Karl specifically, she alludes to their 2016 break-up in the series titled Divorce Story.
