‘I’m going to steal him’: Radio host Kyle Sandilands reveals the best new TV reporter in Australia – and why he wants to poach him for KIIS

Radio host Kyle Sandilands has revealed who he believes is the best new TV reporter in Australia.

The 50-year-old was interviewing Studio 10 host Sarah Harris on his KIIS FM Kyle and Jackie O show on Tuesday, when he revealed his favourite is Daniel Doody.

‘There is something about this reporter, and I keep my eye on everyone. The guy has got more ability and more potential than anyone I see on TV or radio in the country,’ he said.

‘He is a barrel of fun,’ Kyle added.

Sarah explained: ‘We stole him from the ABC. He was working in Bega and we made him our roving reporter. He can read the news, he can go out and do a fun cross.’

‘Try and lock him in or I’m going to try and steal that kid in the future. I like him. No one else is any good out there,’ Kyle said.

Daniel joined Studio 10 as a news reporter in November last year.

Prior to landing a job on the morning show, he worked with 10 News First, The Project, SKY News, 2EC and Power FM.

Studio 10 is presented by Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus and airs weekdays from 8am.

Earlier this month, Daniel broke down in tears while reporting on the racist abuse faced by English soccer players.

He became emotional during a news bulletin about a digital mural depicting the three players who were racially abused after missing penalties during the Euro 2020 final.

‘Hear, hear, well done to that,’ he said of the mural celebrating the sportsmen.

Studio 10 co-host Beau Ryan agreed, saying: ‘There were scenes where they were putting flowers and chocolates.

‘Marcus Rashford does many things for the community such as feed the homeless and all the people that he has helped in the last three to five years turned up. I want to know what you think about it, Doody.

‘You’re a proud man of colour. You have Sudanese and Samoan heritage. How did you feel about the last week?’

Breaking down in tears, Daniel said: ‘When I did see that article, it was very upsetting.’
