Lance Bass reveals he’s been ‘kept away’ from Britney Spears during her conservatorship: ‘I haven’t spoken to her for years’

Lance Bass is chiming in about Britney Spears amid her conservatorship drama, revealing he has been ‘kept away’ from her.

Bass, 42, revealed he is ‘definitely’ a staunch supporter of the #FreeBritney movement, during an interview on Heather Dubrow’s World podcast.

The N’Sync singer has been friends with her for many years, but revealed in the interview (via US Weekly) that they haven’t spoken in quite some time.

‘I haven’t spoken to her for years. We’ve been kept away from each other for quite a while,’ Bass said on the podcast episode, which airs Friday.

‘I don’t know exactly what she needs but I do know that she, to me — [from] what I see — is sane enough to pick her own people,’ he added. 

Spears has made headlines this summer for trying to free herself from the conservatorship, which she’s been under for the past 13 years.

She has been unable to make any personal or financial decisions without the approval of her father Jamie, who was head of the conservatorship since 2009.

Her father stepped down in 2019, with Jodi Montgomery named conservator of Britney’s person, though Jamie still controlled the financial estate. 

‘I believe that she needs to be away from the dad. She needs to pick her own people running this conservatorship, if she even needs one, especially when choosing her lawyer,’ Bass said.

‘To me, there’s a bigger picture here. … The main thing that I’m concerned about is the court systems and this judge,’ he added. 

‘If this is really true, then we have to look at this judge, right? Because that means that they’re corrupt. I don’t know, it’s scary,’ Bass continued.

Spears said during a court hearing in June said she didn’t know she could petition for her freedom, calling the conservatorship, ’embarrassing and demoralizing.’

‘I feel hanged up, bullied and alone. The conservatorship has done way more harm than good. I just want my life back,’ she said.

She added that she wants to file lawsuits against family members who have benefited off the conservatorship.

The singer was granted the ability to choose her own lawyer, and she picked former federal prosecutor Matthew Rosengrant.
