Richard Wilkins’ son Christian responds to critics who claim he’ll never step out of his famous father’s shadow


He may be rising up the ranks Australia’s fashion and beauty scene. 

But Richard Wilkins’ son Christian Wilkins, 26, says he’s embraced the fact that he may never step out of his famous father’s shadow.  

Speaking to Stellar magazine this weekend, the model insisted he has no qualms about playing second fiddle to his father Richard, 67, who enjoys an illustrious career as Channel Nine’s entertainment guru.

‘You would be hard pressed to find someone who’s prouder of my dad than me,’ the Pantene ambassador gushed. 

Christian revealed he’d previously struggled to cope with the pressures of fame, admitting that at age 18 he was left ‘absolutely devastated’ after a publication called him a ‘spoiled brat’ who will never amount to anything other than ‘being on Big Brother’ 

‘I spoke to my parents and they were like, ‘Unfortunately, this is kind of part of the industry. So, if this is something that you want, it’s also something that you probably are going to have to battle”, Christian recalled.

Despite the negative experience, Christian said he quickly resolved to embrace his passion for performing and let go of his fear of negative feedback from the public.

His interview comes days after the glamazon was named the face of a new, inclusive makeup range created by Karen Murrell in conjunction with the streaming service Binge.

The line is inspired by the rebooted season of the drama TV series Gossip Girl – which is one of Christian’s favourite shows.  

Christian said he quickly decided to embrace his passon for performing and let go of his fear of negative feedback from the public.

Christian, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQI+ community, announced the exciting news on Instagram by uploading photos of himself modelling a red lipstick from the range. 

‘I’m very excited to be teaming up with Binge as the face of their new Gossip Girl x Karen Murrell collaboration, because lipstick also doesn’t discriminate’, he wrote in the caption. 

Meanwhile, Christian also recently made his acting debut in Stan Original series Eden – in which he played a twin named Leander.
