Channel Seven announces a spin-off to The Voice called The Voice Generations

Channel Seven thrills fans as the network announces a spin-off to The Voice called The Voice Generations which will be hosted by Sonia Kruger


A new spin-off for The Voice Australia has been announced for 2022.

The series will be titled The Voice Generations and will have Sonia Kruger, 55, back in the hosting chair as she hosts the 2021 season of The Voice Australia.

The Seven Network made the announcement on Saturday and has commissioned the spin-off, which is set to premiere on Seven and 7Plus next year.

The Voice Generations has a ‘world-first twist’ in that it will incorporate singers and musicians from different generations to perform together on stage.

The new show will feature families of all backgrounds and ages, from parents and children to grandparents, siblings and cousins contending for ‘Voice glory.’

An auditioning call has been put out to anyone, or any families, interested in applying for the series.

‘We are so thrilled with the series, we think it deserves a spin-off and The Voice: Generations is the perfect way to add an exciting new dimension to the format,’ Seven’s Network Director of Programming Angus Ross said in a statement.  

ITV Studios Australia CEO and Managing Director, David Mott, commented: ‘This global television first will be an incredible addition to The Voice brand.’

‘It is a brilliant opportunity for ”generations” to showcase their talents on stage, together for the first time. It will create unforgettable, heartfelt moments that everyone will enjoy,’ he added.

The latest season of The Voice Australia meanwhile, will premiere soon on Channel Seven.

British songstress Rita Ora is in the judges chair for the first time along with singers Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Keith Urban.      

Several promos and trailers have been published on the show’s Instagram page introducing the judges, the contestants and what’s in store for the new season.
