  • They will front Unicorn Hunters, which allows viewers to invest in businesses

Former Speaker of the House John Bercow is set to join an expert panel on a new online reality TV show called Unicorn Hunters, which allows viewers the opportunity to invest in the next $1billion enterprise.

Mr Bercow, who recently made headlines after defecting to Labour and calling the Conservatives ‘reactionary, populist, nationalistic and xenophobic’, was tipped to join ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! – before swatting the rumours away by calling the hit jungle series ‘too trashy’.

However, the Europhile former Speaker of the Commons – whose wife is also no stranger to reality TV, having starred in Channel 5 series When Paddy Met Sally with Paddy Doherty – will sit beside Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and NSYNC star Lance Bass on the panel show from next month.

Together, the three judges will front Unicorn Hunter, the first of a new genre known as ‘enrichatainment’, which apparently allows viewers to enjoy a night of entertainment and build wealth from their home.

Viewers will have the opportunity to invest in emerging companies and build wealth from the comfort of their sofas.

Entrepreneurs seeking to build up $1billion companies will be given the opportunity to pitch their businesses to Bercow, Wozniak and Bass on the panel, known as the ‘Circle of Money’.

At the end of each episode, viewers are invited to invest in the featured company, alongside the expert panel, by visiting the Unicorn Hunters website.

In a press release, the makers of Unicorn Hunters say the TV series hopes to ‘democratise wealth creation and open up investment opportunities for historically marginalised groups such as women, ethnic minorities and those in the LGBTQIA+ community to become the next investment success stories’.

Mr Bercow said: ‘Unicorn Hunters is a fantastically entertaining show and I’m delighted to be joining the panel on its mission to open up investment opportunities to the public. I’m particularly looking forward to welcoming entrepreneurs from the UK in this season.’

Alex Konanykhin, Executive Producer of Unicorn Hunters and CEO of TransparentBusiness, said: ‘Unicorn Hunters is a one-of-a-kind show, providing millions of people with transparent access to select pre-IPO investment opportunities, which in the past were usually only available to venture capital funds and investment banks.

‘By opening up these opportunities we are democratising wealth and making investing accessible to everyone in an entertaining way. We look forward to welcoming UK start-ups on to the show and finding out what the country’s entrepreneurs have to offer.’
