Brendan Fevola ‘injures his hands’ as he attempts to break a world record for highest attitude catch – months after NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski made his record-breaking catch

Brendan Fevola has been left with injured hands after trying to break the world record for highest altitude catch.

The 40-year-old former AFL great attempted to beat NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski, who recently made a catch from 600 feet (182 metres) from a hovering helicopter.

In his attempt on Wednesday, Brendan tried from 650 feet (198m) and while he came extremely close, he ended up disappointed and with swollen hands.

In a clip on Fox 101.9, Fev, who was dressed in a jersey with a helmet and gloves, looked motivated as he was being revved up by co-host Fifi Box.

‘I know that the nerves will be fluttering around in your tummy but you need to harness that energy, you need to tap into the muscle memory of an AFL great,’ she told the former AFL star.

The American footballer star also had perfectly clear weather during his catch.

Fev came excruciatingly close to making his a number of times, narrowly missing a few of the drops.

‘It’s all about the drop and it’s real muddy there,’ Fev said after a couple of missed attempts on the field.

A storm was also rolling in as Brendan attempted to break the record, and on the final drop, the sportsman almost got there.

‘It’s a real fail,’ Brendan said of the missed catches. However, Fifi said it wasn’t a fail.

‘It’s take one,’ she said. ‘We’re coming back,’ she added.

Fev finished by promising to come back bigger and better next time after missing on breaking the record.
