Actress Miranda Tapsell announces she is expecting her first child with husband James Colley


Miranda Tapsell is expecting her first child with her writer husband James Colley.

The acclaimed actress, 33, announced the exciting news to her Instagram account on Thursday night.

‘Our very exciting production due 2021,’ she wrote alongside a sonogram of the couple’s child.

Miranda’s announcement was quickly inundated with comments from well-wishers, including close friends and former co-stars.

Wentworth’s Leah Purcell kept it short and sweet, writing, ‘Congratulations,’ alongside an array of heart and daisy flower emojis.

Meanwhile, Neighbours actress Jane Hall wrote, ‘Totally brilliant news!’ and Doctor Doctor star Nicole da Silva added: ‘Yayyyyy!!! Congrats beautiful! X’

Speaking about her biggest role yet, Miranda told The Daily Telegraph that things were finally starting to ‘sink in’.

‘I look down at my growing belly and think, “Oh wow, this is actually happening.” It just feels right for us now. It’s all falling into place – it’s really lovely,’ she said.

She continued: ‘We’ve wanted a baby for some time now… I’m really lucky that I found a loving partner like James, who I know is going to be a really great dad.’

Miranda and James met after several online exchanges on Twitter.  

‘When I looked at his picture, he seemed cute. When I followed him, he Tweeted: “Uh, now I’m going to be nervous to ever Tweet again. Thank you for freeing me from this website”,’  she recalled. 

The couple then shared several private messages, with Miranda admitting: ‘There are so many things I take into consideration before I meet up with someone.

‘Do our political views align? What kind of baggage does he have and is it something I can shoulder? Does he want a long-term relationship?’ 

After months of messaging, they met for the first time in Melbourne when Sydney-based Miranda was booked on an acting job there and had some free time.

‘My heart nearly burst out of my chest. I thought he was gorgeous, I was so nervous but I kept it together,’ wrote Miranda of first meeting James several years ago.
