No room at the gym! Duncan Bannatyne predicts queues outside fitness centres before they reopen on Monday

  • Gyms will be able to reopen tomorrow morning as Covid-19 rules are loosened
  • Swimming pools and other indoor exercise facilities will also reopen tomorrow
  • People will still have to adhere to social distancing rules during the activities

Fitness fans desperate to feel the burn again will be lining up outside their gyms before the doors are flung open tomorrow, Duncan Bannatyne has predicted.

Swimming pools and other indoor exercise facilities will also reopen as lockdown rules are relaxed.

The former BBC Dragons’ Den star, who owns a chain of health clubs, spas and hotels, said: ‘There’ll be a queue outside each health club on Monday morning waiting to get in. We experienced that last time.

‘We had queues out of the door of people coming in, trying to be first in the swimming pool or gym after the lockdown. There was such a great atmosphere.’

Mr Bannatyne added: ‘If people are not going abroad for a holiday, they’re more likely to join a health club and take the kids to the swimming pool, and things like that.’

Glenn Earlam, chief executive of David Lloyd Leisure, added: ‘It’s great welcoming everyone back. Our clubs are a big part of our members’ lives.’
