Star Trek: Picard season 2 will see the return of infamous villain Q… as John de Lancie reprises his role

Star Trek: Picard will see the return of an ominous character in season two.

The villain Q will be featured in the upcoming sophomore season, with John de Lancie reprising the role in the franchise.

He’ll be back to face titular Jean-Luc Picard – played by Patrick Stewart.

Paramount+ revealed the news on Monday at a First Contact Day virtual session.

Lancie was also on hand to surprise fans and make the announcement himself.

In a brand new teaser for season two, Picard’s voiceover can be heard saying: ‘Time offers so many opportunities, but never second chances…’

He says this as the camera spans across his French chateau before stopping on a Queen of Hearts playing card on a table.

The card then catches alight and smolders until only the ‘Q’ is left.

‘The trial never ends,’ is then heard, in Q’s voice

Q first appeared in Star Trek: Next Generation, and was then seen in Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Lower Decks.

He holds the power to alter reality. 

This follows the news that Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner will all feature in season two of Picard.

The new episodes have alreadt started filming and they are set to stream on Paramount+.
