Actor Alex Dimitriades, 47, responds to criticism he is ‘too young’ to play a grandfather as he speaks about his new role in Nine drama Amazing Grace

Alex Dimitriades has responded to claims he is ‘too young’ to play a grandfather in the new Channel Nine drama Amazing Grace.

The 47-year-old actor, who rose to fame on youth-driven shows in the ’90s, addressed some of the criticism in an interview with TV Tonight on Wednesday.

‘This is the first time I’ll be playing a grandparent, which is just weird,’ he said.

‘It’s really not impossible’: Alex Dimitriades (right, with Alexandra Jensen) has responded to claims he is ‘too young’ to play a grandfather in the new Channel Nine drama Amazing Grace

‘I mean, it’s not impossible. I could have had three grandchildren by now,’ he added.

Alex explained his on-screen daughter in Amazing Grace, Sophia, is actually 17, so it’s not impossible that his character could be a grandfather.

‘I’m 47. Sophia’s 17. It’s really not impossible at all even though it seems a little far fetched for my own life,’ he said.
