Andy Lee (pictured with girlfriend Rebecca Harding) shared BTS secrets of what REALLY happens between games on Channel 10’s game show The Cube via an Instagram Q&A with fans on Wednesday night

From the comfort of his Melbourne lounge room, Andy told fans he was relieved when certain games were mastered in one life and the reason contestants are afforded multiple lives while competing.

‘You need those lives to get to a quarter of a millions dollars. Most games take a couple of lives to get used to it on average,’ he said.

While some games are tricker than others to complete in the allocated time limits, Andy confirmed that no one is given time to practice before competing.

The radio host claimed there are multiple staff hired to ‘reset’ The Cube between each failed attempt at a game.

‘Obviously a game where you have to throw a thousand balls out of a bucket, you need someone to come in and pick up those thousand balls,’ he said, adding he was relieved they didn’t need to wait a lengthy amount of time for a ‘reset’ when the team got that challenge in one take.

Andy also said to avoid finger prints or marks being left on the glass walls of The Cube, staff cleaned them between each game being filmed.

Based on the global series of the same name, The Cube will see contestants put in a small perspex cube where they must take on a series of tasks in the hopes of winning $250,000.

The tasks can involve anything from throwing and catching challenges to memorising games.

Before the premiere, Andy and girlfriend Rebecca hHarding filmed themselves trialling some of the 30 games, with Andy hinting he could release the footage in the coming weeks.

When someone asked what he was paid by Channel 10 for the hosting gig, he sarcastically answered: ‘Nothing. This is one of those one I do out of the goodness of my heart.’

‘Things get tense with me and my mates when we play skill games to determine who’s going to get the next round of beers at the pub, imagine doing it for a quarter of million dollars,’ Andy said in a statement.

Andy’s new hosting role will see him placed in competition with his colleague, Hamish, who hosts the hugely popular Channel Nine series Lego Masters.
