Paging Dr. Montgomery! Kate Walsh says she is ‘always open’ to reprise her role on Grey’s Anatomy following a decade long hiatus

Kate Walsh said she is definitely up for returning to Grey’s Anatomy following a decade long hiatus.

The actress, 53, who played Dr. Addison Montgomery on the hit show for seven years, told Us Weekly that she is ‘always open’ to return to the hit medical drama.

When asked if she would be interested in making a cameo on an upcoming episode or season, she gave a resounding ‘of course!’.

‘Of course!’ Kate Walsh, 53, shared with Us Weekly that she is ‘always open’ to reprising her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery on Grey’s Anatomy following a decade long hiatus, as she gushed ‘of course!’

Currently in Australia, she cited some technical issues on account of the distance but said an appearance was in the cards.

‘Of course! I mean, I’m here in western Australia so it would be a big trip so I’d have to see. But, yeah, I’m always open to it. I’m here.’

Walsh provided a solution to being so far away from the set in Los Angeles as she said, ‘Maybe Addison could call in or zoom in.’

Another actor that recently came back to the Grey’s realm was Patrick Dempsey, who made a surprise appearance in the Season 17 premiere.

Beloved as Dr. Derek Shepherd aka ‘McDreamy,’ he played the love interest turned husband of Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey. In the show the two had an affair, ending his relationship with Walsh’s character.

As McDreamy was killed off in 2015, he came to Pompeo in a dream sequence, reuniting the pair to fans’ delights.

Walsh said ‘it’s been incredible’ to see old characters make surprise appearances, previously joking on Instagram that a scorned Addison would not be happy.

‘U already know how Addie would’ve reacted to this,’ she wrote while sharing a photo of Dempsey and Pompeo embracing.

Kate went on to star in Private Practice – a spin off of Grey’s – and the show ran from 2007 to 2013.

Though Grey’s has been wildly popular with fans, Pompeo teased that the show may be winding down for good as she said in October ‘I don’t know that this is the last year, but it could very well could be.’

Walsh said it would be the ‘end of an era,’ if so as she called it ‘an epic piece of [her] life.’

‘It’s been such an incredible run and has changed so many lives and has certainly changed my life. Whatever they decide I think obviously is a creative decision, but I was thrilled to be a part of it.’

She went on to act in Netflix shows 13 Reasons Why and Emily in Paris – the latter being nominated for two Golden Globes, as she gushed ‘I’m so excited, are you kidding?’

The show – which stars Lily Collins – was green-lit for a second season, though Walsh is unsure if she will be making an appearance, saying ‘We’ll see.’
