Sopranos prequel The Many Saints Of Newark is featured in first look Warner Bros/HBO Max sizzle reel

Warner Bros/HBO Max has released a sizzle reel of its upcoming 2021 slate and it features the first look at the highly-anticipated Sopranos prequel The Many Saints Of Newark. 

Michael Gandolfini – who is the son of late actor James Gandolfini – is shown portraying the younger version of the character his dad made famous; Tony Soprano.

It wasn’t the only film featured in the over minute-and-a-half video as there were also short clips of upcoming films:  Dune, The Suicide Squad, Godzilla Vs. Kong, In The Heights, Judas And The Black Messiah, King Richard, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and Mortal Kombat.

All of the films are set to open day-and-date both in theaters and on streamer HBO Max. 

In the very short The Many Saints Of Newark clip, young Tony Soprano is seen staring at someone who says ‘Antonio Soprano’ before being attacked.

The prequel to the iconic HBO series The Sopranos focuses on the origins of the iconic character who eventually becomes a mob boss.

The cast of the prequel includes Ray Liotta, Vera Farmiga, and Alessandro Nivola as Dickie Moltisanti, the father of Michael Imperioli’s original-series Christopher Moltisanti and is set for release on September 24.

The Suicide Squad – set for release on August 6 – was also shown toward the end of the clip as Idris Elba (Bloodsport) and John Cena (Peacemaker) could be seen having a humorous conversation.

Bloodsport says: ‘No one likes a show off.’ 

Peacemaker replies: ‘Unless what they’re showing off is dope as f…’

Dune is also shown in the clip despite director Denis Villeneuve blasting Warner Bros. a week after their bombshell announcement that all of its 2021 movies will debut in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously.

It stars Timothee Chalamet, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem and Stellan Skarsgard, and is set to debut on October 8. 

Godzilla vs. Kong, which stars Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Eiza Gonzalez and Jessica Henwick, was also featured is slated for release on May 19.

As if that wasn’t already enough to convince movie buffs to subscribe to the service; Judas And The Black Messiah, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Mortal Kombat, Tom & Jerry: The Movie, The Little Things, In The Heights, Cry Macho, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Malignant, and The Matrix 4 will all see releases this year and were featured in the sizzle reel.

It should also be added that no movies that premiere on HBO Max will be available to subscribers at no additional costs for 31 days before temporarily leaving the service.
