Burglar ransacked on-duty paramedic’s home and stole her Christmas presents before buying bottle of Dom Perignon champagne

  • The thug broke into the paramedic’s home in Islington at 3pm on December 18
  • He stole £3,000 worth of goods including a Whyte Portobello bike and cash
  • He was then captured on CCTV using a stolen bank card to buy champagne 

A burglar ransacked on-duty paramedic’s home and stole her Christmas presents before being captured on CCTV buying Dom Perignon champagne with a stolen card.    

The thug who broke into the property in Islington, north London, at 3pm on December 18 while the front-line worker, aged in her 20s, was on duty.

He stole £3,000 worth of goods including a Whyte Portobello bike, a Maltese gold cross pendant on a gold chain, cash and a MacBook Pro.

After stealing £3,000 worth of goods the burglar was captured on CCTV buying champagne from a food and wine shop on Southgate Road

The suspect was then captured on CCTV buying a bottle of Dom Perignon from a nearby food and wine shop on Southgate Road with a stolen bank card.

He then left on an electric scooter towards Hackney where he attempted to buy another bottle of Champagne with the stolen card. 

Detectives investigating have issued an image of a man they wish to identify.

Police described the suspect as a white man, aged between 20 and 30 years old, of slim muscular build.

He was wearing a light coloured hooded top under a Canada Goose jacket, grey jogging bottoms and a red baseball cap.

PC Zak Tallis, from Central North Basic Command Unit, said: ‘This burglary has impacted the victims severely and to make matters worse the two female victims are helping Londoners survive the pandemic on a daily basis.’
