Strictly’s Maisie Smith tucks into a well-deserved pizza after topping the leaderboard during the semi-final

She topped the leaderboard during Saturday night’s semi-final of Strictly Come Dancing.

And Maisie Smith celebrated by tucking into a well-deserved pizza alongside her professional partner Gorka Marquez, 30.

The pair were left speechless after receiving 59 for their two dances, an almost perfect score.

Taking to Instagram Stories backstage, Gorka was surprised to see Maisie, 19, had already tucked into the pizza as he started filming.

He said: ‘You’re already eating the pizza’ with Maisie responding simply: ‘Starving.’

As the EastEnders star asked ‘what just happened’, Gorka added: ‘I don’t know. I don’t have words. Speechless.

‘Guys I hope you enjoyed the show and our dances as much as we did. I absolutely love them.’

Maisie and Gorka took on street for the couple’s choice dance, pulling off a perfectly choreographed routine to Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith.

The dance left the newly-returned socially-distanced audience on their feet, with judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse particularly excited.

Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley and Motsi all gave Maisie a score of 10, making a perfect score of 30.

The pair’s second dance, the Viennese Waltz to the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

It was just as impressive, with the two getting just shy of the full 30 with 29 points.

Maisie recently revealed she has put on weight during her time on Strictly Come Dancing despite spending hours in intense rehearsals.

The star reckons she is the only celebrity contestant to put on weight while taking part in the show.

Speaking to Heat magazine, she said: ‘It’s weird. Everyone always says, “Going on this show, you’re just going to shed the weight.”‘

However, Maisie explained she is eating more food than ever before to make up for the energy she burns while dancing.

She said: ‘But I haven’t noticed that about myself because I eat triple the amount of food I was eating before. I think I’m the only celeb to actually put on weight.’

Maisie, who is partnered with Gorka Marquez on the show, specifically blamed her weight gain on doughnuts and fajitas.

She said: ‘Gorka and I have a bag of doughnuts every single day, so that’s probably not going to help. Fajitas and doughnuts, that’s my diet right now. That’s something of a balance, isn’t it?’
