Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea will appear in part four of The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

Sabrina blast from the past! Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea are set to return as Zelda and Hilda Spellman in The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina

It appears that some fan favorites will be making their return to the supernatural series.

On Friday, a clip from the upcoming part four of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina posted to the show’s official YouTube account confirmed the return of Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea.

The two portrayed Zelda and Hilda Spellman, respectively, in the 1996 series Sabrina The Teenage Witch, which ran from 1996 until 2003.

Surprise, surprise! Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea will reprise their roles as Beth and Hilda Spellman in the upcoming part four of The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, as revealed on Friday

The clip begins with a shot of Sabrina, portrayed by Kiernan Shipka, looking around an old bedroom before hearing Broderick calling; ‘Sabrina, is that you?’

Broderick and Rhea then walk into the room and introduce themselves to Shipka, and a joke told by the latter sets off an audible laugh track, which appeared to trouble the teenage witch.

The bedroom then begins to be disassembled by a number of workers, and Father Blackwood, played by Richard Coyle, enters the set and commends Sabrina for her performance, asking her to call him ‘Faustus.’

Shipka remarks: ‘I have no idea what’s going on right now,’ before Coyle reassures her that she’ll quickly adjust to the change, before adding ominously, ‘or else.’

Both the 1996 series and the current iteration of the show are based on the Sabrina The Teenage Witch comic book series, created by George Gladir and Dan DeCarlo, who also notably created the Archie Comics franchise.

Development on the modern take of the show was first announced in 2017, with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa taking the showrunner’s helm.

The series was originally planned to serve as a companion show to the mystery program Riverdale, also based on characters from Archie Comics, but the show gradually shifted in its own direction over time.

The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina was slated to debut on The CW, but Netflix took over the show before its premiere.

The series released the initial ten episodes of its first season in 2018 to much critical acclaim, with much praise being directed towards Shipka’s performance as the title character.

The show also released a Christmas special before debuting the last ten episodes of the first season in early 2019.

Ten episodes from Season two of the series were released this past January before Netflix made the announcement that the show would be cancelled after the season’s end due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Part four of the show is set to premiere on December 31st.
