Harry Potter star Helena will appear as esteemed actress Mrs. Pat Campbell, who plays Eliza Doolittle, the main character in the play.

Pygmalion tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, who is first introduced as a foul-mouthed flower girl but ends up transformed into a beautiful woman.

The film is set to revolve around Shaw’s relationship with Campbell, who was in years gone by his great love interest.

The play opened in London in April 1914, at His Majesty’s Theatre and ran for 118 performances.

Shaw famously directed tempestuous rehearsals that were often punctuated by actors storming out of the theatre in anger.

Filming on Pierce and Helena’s new flick will kick off in the spring of 2021.

The film is being produced by Adam Rolston and David Braithwaite and directed and written by Joel Hopkins.

Producers Rolston and Braithwaite told the website: ‘This is exactly the kind of film the world needs right now.

‘A feel-good story that will make you laugh and make you cry for the right reasons. We can’t wait to get started.
