It is AFL’s night of night’s, but this year the Brownlow Medal ceremony is going to be very different.   

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards ceremony is set to be held virtually with functions held at several venues in different states.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, celebrity stylist Paul Versace revealed the behind-the-scenes chaos of trying to style the WAGS for the event.

‘It’s good, but with a week’s notice and doing it in stage 4 restrictions, it’s been a logistical nightmare,’ he told the publication. 

‘It’s very different to previous years, but I think they’re all going to look amazing.’ 

The Melbourne-based stylist will be dressing, Geelong star wives Emma Hawkins and Britt Selwood along with Collingwood star partner Mikayla Crisp.

And despite, the lack of red carpet this year, he admits that the women are looking forward to dressing up. 

‘No one has been able to dress up so this is going to be the first proper event to wear a gown. Everyone is craving something other than tracksuits,’ he added. 

However, fans shouldn’t expect the lavish gowns of previous years as the dress code is lounge suit.

Tom Hawkin’s wife Emma plans to go casual this year revealing to the publication that she will be wearing ‘pants and a top’ and plans on doing her own hair and makeup. 

However, some of the wives are still planning to go all out for the event. 

Julie Neale, the wife of Brisbane midfielder Lachie Neale, is one such WAG, who plans on wearing a floor length gown  because she wants to ‘make a night’ of the event.
