A woman has been branded an inconsiderate ‘bridezilla’ after getting angry at one of her bridesmaids for refusing to attend her bachelorette party because there will be male strippers there.

Reddit user Throwaway-bastard88 took to the ‘Am I the A**hole’ forum on Sunday to ask if she was in the wrong for getting mad at her friend June. Not only did she get slammed in the comments, but her pal ended up seeing the post and has been crying ever since.

‘I’m getting married in a week. One of my bridesmaids, June, is pretty much the opposite of me. She’s very reserved whereas I am a party type gal — love going out to clubs with my fiance!’ the bride-to-be wrote. ‘Anyways, for my Bachelorette party, I wanted to go hire male strippers. Everyone thought it was a great idea…except June.’

While June said she was happy for her, she made it clear that she ‘wouldn’t be attending that type of event’ because ‘it wasn’t something she was comfortable with.’

‘I got upset and told her it’s not about her comfort, it’s about attending to support me,’ the Reddit user recalled.

The bridesmaid explained that she ‘would be very upset if her husband attended a party with strippers,’ so it would be ‘hypocritical’ of her to go to a party where there will be exotic dancers.

‘June told me she’d be happy to attend once they left but there was no way she’d disrespect her husband like that. She also said that even if he wasn’t in the picture, she’s not comfortable with it,’ the Reddit user said.

Backlash: Commenters slammed the bride for being so selfish and inconsiderate of her her friend's boundaries

‘I got very upset and told her she was a bad friend for completely refusing to even ask her husband or to put aside her goody-two-shoes attitude for one night that’s for ME, NOT her or her husband.’

If the original poster was looking for sympathy, she didn’t get it. Commenters slammed her for being so self-centered, with many dubbing her a ‘bridezilla.’

A number of people also pointed out how irresponsible it was for her to strippers at her bachelorette party in the middle of a pandemic.

‘Not everyone is comfortable with nudity, I am, but I realize that not everybody is me. So stop forcing and peer-pressuring your friend into male nudity,’ one person wrote. ‘She said she would attend once they leave to support you.

‘That doesn’t make her a bad friend. I mean I find strippers incredibly tacky and there is a literal pandemic, but I guess you do your bachelorette party.’

‘Bridezilla on aisle 12! Repeat, we have a Bridezilla on aisle 12!! Someone call attitude control,’ someone else commented. ‘YTA, and I pity your future husband, OP.’

Enough already: After the onslaught of criticism, the bride returned to the post to reveal her friend found out about the post — and also to ask people to stop tormenting her

Another added: ‘You’re trying to force her into doing something that’s clearly over the line for her. She gets to have boundaries just like anyone else. She’s not stopping you, she just doesn’t want to do it. Calling her a bad friend makes you a huge A.’

After the onslaught of criticism, the bride returned to the post to share an update  — and also to ask people to stop tormenting her.

‘Alright guys, I get it, I’m a major a**hole. I really didn’t expect it to blow up this much,’ she wrote. ‘June ended up seeing it, I didn’t know she had Reddit. It hasn’t gone well. Her husband called me and said some really rude things because June has been crying ever since she saw it.

‘I guess I’m going to have to go deal with this now,’ she added. ‘Please stop sending me harassing messages and calling me names.’
