Former McLeod’s Daughters star Bridie Carter is spotted on the set of Home and Away for the first time after recently announcing she was joining the cast of the long-running series

Just two days after announcing she was joining the cast of Home and Away, Bridie Carter was spotted on set, filming the long-running Aussie soap.

The 49-year-old former McLeod’s Daughters actress filmed beach scenes for the show in Sydney on Tuesday, alongside fellow cast members including Sam Frost and Shane Withington.

Dressed in a pleated cobalt blue skirt and a white blouse, Bridie seemed at ease as she filmed scenes for the iconic show.

She wore white ankle boots, which were covered in sand, and accessorised with layered silver necklaces.

Her long blonde hair was worn loose, and she was made up for TV with noticeable but natural-looking makeup.

Smiling in between takes, Bridie happily chatted with Sam, 31, and Shane, 61, keeping warm underneath a black puffer jacket.

Bridie excitedly announced she was joining the show’s cast in a post on Instagram on Tuesday.  

‘Very happy to be join [sic] the team/family on one of Australia’s longest running shows – @homeandaway,’ she captioned an animated photo of herself in Sydney’s Centennial Park.  

‘Very, very grateful in these strange times to be invited into the family fold.’

Bridie’s former McLeod’s Daughters co-star Rachael Carpani congratulated her friend on the new job, commenting on the post.

‘Huge congratulations beautiful Brides!! Can’t wait to see your face again xxxx mwahh!’ the 39-year-old actress wrote.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Bridie said it was ‘miraculous’ that she had landed the role given the current state of the entertainment industry.

‘I think it is miraculous that in these uncertain times when my industry is floundering that I got a phone call to say would I like to come to Summer Bay,’ she said, as re-reported by TV WEEK on Tuesday.

‘I was astounded and ecstatic at the same time. I am very fortunate and very grateful.’
