Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood postpone July 7 streaming concert after potential exposure to COVID-19

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood postpone streaming concert and go into quarantine after ‘possible’ exposure to COVID-19

In a year rife with cancellations and postponements, country legends Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have had to shelve their online concert previously scheduled for this week.

In a joint statement shared to their respective social media pages, Brooks, 58, and wife Yearwood, 55, said they will be quarantining for the next two weeks after ‘possibly [being] exposed to the Covid-19 virus.’

The concert, originally meant to stream on Facebook on Tuesday, has been moved to a currently unspecified ‘later date,’ and Garth’s Inside Studio G shows will also be postponed for two weeks while the superstar couple complete their quarantine.

‘Out of an abundance of caution, Garth Brooks is moving his and Trisha Yearwood’s July 7th Facebook concert to a later date and postponing Inside Studio G for 2 weeks,’ the statement on both of their Instagram pages read Monday.

It continued: ‘While Garth and Trisha are fine, the Garth/Trisha camp has possibly been exposed to the Covid-19 virus. To be smart about this, they are all quarantining for 2 weeks and thank everyone for their concern.-Team Garth & TeamTY’

While this week’s interruption is unfortunate, fans of both Brooks and Yearwood have been entertained by the pair on a fairly regular basis since the pandemic began, with a steady stream of virtual shows and online concerts.

What’s more, the couple — who’ve been married since 2005 — have done many of the performances for charity.

In mid-March, Garth and Trisha held a Facebook Live concert that generated such massive traffic – more than 5.2 million viewers – that it caused temporary interruptions in service for Facebook Live.

And fresh off that success, they hosted a coronavirus benefit straight from their Studio G home studio later that month.

The show, dubbed Garth & Trisha Live! was a primetime special broadcast live on CBS.

‘We’re seeing how big things can be when we all do them as one. In addition to the special, we and CBS will donate $1 million to charities to be determined, combating the COVID-19 virus,’ the married country music duo shared in a joint statement at the time.

Then in May, the country duo performed together again at the legendary Grand Ole Opry Saturday night broadcast  for radio, TV and streaming, without an audience.

Following that, last month saw Garth play a record-setting drive-in movie theater concert broadcast at 300 drive-in theaters across North America.
