Video shows last moments of transgender woman killed in Puerto Rico

This is the shocking moment a transgender woman was killed in Puerto Rico early Monday, hours after a McDonald’s customer called the police to complain that she was using a women’s restroom.

At least two male voices are heard in the video that was uploaded to social media after Neulisa Luciano Ruiz, 28, was shot on the side of a highway in Toa Baja, a town in northern Puerto Rico.

A male could be heard mocking Ruiz, known to locals as Alexa.

The young man shouts in Spanish, ‘hey, give me that ass’.

He subsequently threatened Alexa by yelling, ‘hey, we are going to shoot you,’ as she slowly walled away from a tent on a grass field.

A second male in the video then interjected, shouting, ‘hey, hey, let’s spin the tires on this mother******. What’s up’.

A couple of seconds later, the first male is heard saying, ‘I bet I go and shot that mother******. I bet you I will, mother******’.

At least 10 shots were fired before the video ends.

‘Everything points to this being a hate crime, and that´s how it will be treated,’ she said.

Alexa was questioned by a police officer inside a McDonald’s on Sunday afternoon after a woman accused her of placing a mirror under the restroom stall to look at her private parts.

The incident was shared on social media networks by the woman’s boyfriend, identified as Carlos Javier Fret.

Activist Pedro Julio Serrano said in a statement that he was outraged by the killing.

‘There´s no doubt that transphobia and intolerance had much to do in this case,’ he said.
