doyoutravel Jack Morris under fire for his ‘dangerous’ picture hanging off the edge of a balcony

A travel blogger has come under fire on social media for posing in a ‘dangerous’ stunt after posting a picture of himself hanging off a hotel balcony.

Manchester-born Jack Morris, who lives in Bali with his Australian girlfriend Lauren Bullen, shared a snapshot, taken in Bangkok, Thailand on Instagram to promote the new launch of his presets.

The photograph shows the 29-year-old social media influencer – who has more than 2.7 million followers on @doyoutravel – sitting precariously over the ledge of a building.

But critics have responded by saying not only was he putting his life at risk but it was an irresponsible picture to share online because copy-cats could be in real danger if they tried the same stunt.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Jack Morris for comment.

The photo, which was posted on his Instagram page on February 26, 2020, has since prompted a ferocious debate in the comments section.

‘Not a good pic! Very dangerous. And with the number of followers you have, other people might imitate without thinking it through. Very irresponsible of you to post this,’ one person said.

Another said: ‘I been to this hotel and I think you sitting there is just too dangerous and crazy! All about social media.’

One said: ‘People will try and copy this and die. Bad example.’

Another person said: ‘What are you trying to advocate? Think before you do. You don’t need this “Coolness”.’

One said: ‘Ah not good pic! Another people can repeat! It’s dangerous.’

And another said: ‘This is not a good influence. Love your life, kids.’

Others said they have since unfollowed his page because of his ‘risky behaviour’.

His picture struck a chord with one woman who revealed she lost her friend last year after she tried to take a picture of herself but ended up falling to her death from a lookout point along the Oregon coast.

‘Please don’t encourage others to be unsafe. They are often not as careful as you might be. Guaranteed this is violating the building’s safety regulations. I had a childhood friend pass away early last year. She was trying to take a photo and lost her balance,’ the woman said.

Other followers begged the travel blogger not to take similar pictures again because he shouldn’t put his need for likes before his own safety.

‘Sir please don’t take these photos. You might fall,’ one said.

Another said: ‘Taking a risk like that to take a picture is not worth it.’

And one said: ‘One way to get attention to your post..but was it worth the high risk?’

While many fans commented on her ‘beautiful’ picture, others quickly pointed out how her ‘dangerous’ stunt could inspire others to replicate the same pose.

‘This is a beautiful shot and I love you two and your pages so much but I have to say, I think this is pretty irresponsible. So many people look to you for travel and picture inspiration and although you’re not directly saying “copy us”, loads of your followers want the same exact pics,’ one man said.

‘Doing something this dangerous will inspire people to do the same and they may not be as careful as you guys. Please be smart with the message you guys are putting out. Again, I absolutely love you guys – I just had to share what is is my heart when I see these types of pics.’
